NDO - NanoDragon, a miniaturised satellite developed by the Vietnam Space Centre (VNSC), has been dispatched to Japan for final testing before being launched into orbit in September.
PASAY CITY, Feb. 27 Senator Cynthia A. Villar wants the Senate to recognize the three Filiipino space engineers for developing Maya-2 CubeSat, the country s 2nd nanosatellite successfully launched to the International Space Station (ISS) last Feb. 21.
In filing Senate Resolution 657, also introduced by Sen. Nancy Binay, Villar said the three engineers Izrael Zenar C. Bautista, Mark Angelo C. Puno and Marloun P. Sejera, have brought pride to the country for the satellite launched aboard the cargo spacecraft Cygnus NG 15.
Villar said the remarkable achievements of the three Filipino engineers are not just in line with the policies and goals of the Philippine Space Act. It was also viewed as a welcome good news bringing genuine inspiration to the Filipinos amid the backdrop of the prolonged Covid-19 pandemic in the country.
Solon hits inaction of House S&T panel in tackling science bills

A party-list lawmaker has urged her colleagues in the House of Representatives to act on 53 pending science bills as she cited the need to foster a science-based culture in the country.

“Of the 60 bills and resolutions referred to the House Committee on Science and Technology in this 18th Congress, only three congratulatory resolutions were adopted. All the 53 bills remain pending at committee level,” Bagong Henerasyon representative Bernadette Herrera said in a statement.
The S&T committee has jurisdiction on matters directly and principally relating to science and technology including technology transfer, science and technology education, intellectual property rights on biotechnology, and climate and weather forecasting. It is currently chaired by Bohol second district representative Eric Aumentado.
