For 23 years, Darrell Lamb has owned and operated the Express Oil Change & Tire Engineers on 526 Jesse Jewell parkway.
However, Lamb said that when the Georgia Department of Transportation began constructing a right turning lane near his property two years, he lost parking slots and an entire exit on his property.
“The DOT, because they are putting in that turn lane, took a portion of the property in front of my location,” he told The Times. “So, I lost all my parking up front, they took away an exit in front of the location and they’ve made it very difficult to operate out of that location.”

GAINESVILLE – Unanimous approval was given Tuesday evening by the Gainesville City Council to a rezoning request that will bring twenty new residential housing units to a 1.56-acre vacant lot near downtown Gainesville.
As a result of that conversation Odom said he was submitting a revised site plan, changing the location of several of the townhomes.
“Rather than having townhomes on the eastern side that would back up to the office building that is there now that is owned by Billy Powell,” Odom began his explanation of the site plan change, “…we were actually able to reconfigure it, and the good news is we came out with a bigger park in the process.”

GAINESVILLE – The Gainesville Planning and Appeals Board recommended for approval Tuesday evening a project that will bring twenty cottage and townhouse-style homes to the downtown area.
There are not many vacant lots remaining for private development within easy walking distance of the Gainesville Square, but 1.56 vacant acres near the intersection of Oak and Academy Streets is on its way to becoming the site for nine two-story detached cottages and eleven three-story attached townhomes following Tuesday evening’s unanimous endorsement.
Dave Odom of Murrayville presented the rezoning application to the Board, saying, “This is something we have been working on…for quite some time…trying to find opportunities here in Gainesville.”
