Emerald Downs in Auburn, Wash. has announced an additional four stakes races for the 2021 live racing season that begins Wednesday, May 19.
Added to the schedule: $50,000 Governor s Stakes, 3-year-olds and up, 6 1/2 furlongs; Sunday, July 11; $50,000 Washington State Legislators Stakes, older fillies and mares, 6 1/2 furlongs, Sunday, July 11; $50,000 Kent Stakes, 3-year-old fillies, 6 1/2 furlongs, Sunday, July 25; $50,000 Irish Day Stakes, 3-year-old colts and geldings, Sunday, July 25.
The schedule now features 21 total stakes (19 Thoroughbred, 2 Quarter Horse) totaling $1,090,000 in purses.
The stakes schedule begins Thursday, June 17, with the $50,000 Hastings Stakes for older fillies and mares at 6 furlongs and the $50,000 Budweiser Stakes for 3-year-olds and up at 6 furlongs.

In a roughly run race, jockey Juan Hernandez orchestrated a picture-perfect trip for comebacking Madone, as she saved ground throughout and unleashed an impressive turn of foot to take Saturday s Grade 3, $100,000 Senorita Stakes by one length at Santa Anita in Arcadia, Calif. Owned by Kaleem Shah, Inc. and trained by Simon Callaghan, Madone got a flat mile on turf in 1:35.17.
With favored Closing Remarks shuffled to the rear of an 11-horse field after clipping heels shortly after the start, longshots Stressed and Nimbostratus slugged it out on the front end, with Nimbostratus fairly running off with Heriberto Figueroa leaving the half mile pole.

Gamine (Into Mischief) wins the Derby City Distaff (G1) at Churchill Downs on 5.1.21.
Gamine continued to add to her impressive record on the Kentucky Derby undercard with an easy win in the Grade 1 Derby City Distaff, holding off a late bid from Sconsin to win by one and a half lengths. John Velazquez took Gamine to the lead at the start of the seven furlong contest despite stumbling out of the gate. Hibiscus Punch settled to her outside for company and drew up to briefly challenge on the turn but was quickly outmatched. Sconsin had sat off the pace and made a closing bid in the stretch but was unable to catch the winner. The final time was 1:21.50 after early fractions of :23.15 and :46.08.
