Uh-oh. There’s another right-wing Republican trying to disenfranchise minorities and suck up to “social conservatives.” He’s the British Prime Minister. That’s the bizarre view from CNN anyway.
Queen Elizabeth on Tuesday announced the priorities of the government in an annual speech. According to the Queen, “Legislation will be introduced to ensure the integrity of elections.”

Why, then, is Johnson and his government doing this?
A simple explanation could be that the UK government is putting on a performance for its core voter base: socially conservative voters in England.

London (CNN)Throughout his time as UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has tried to distance himself from the insinuation that he is the British equivalent of Donald Trump, a comparison that the former US President himself was keen to make.
But one of Johnson s most recent policy proposals has undeniable echoes of what became the cornerstone of Trump s claim that he was the legitimate victor of the 2020 presidential election.
On Tuesday, Queen Elizabeth set out the Johnson government s legislative agenda for the coming year in what is known as the Queen s Speech. The document is written by the government and read out by the UK head of state in the Houses of Parliament.

The number of Covid patients in intensive care at London’s largest health trust is in single figures for the first time since the deadly second wave swept through the capital.
As of 8am on Friday morning (April 30), Barts Health NHS Trust had seven Covid patients in critical care beds or on enhanced levels of oxygen, a spokesperson said.
Across its five hospitals in east London, 38 inpatients have received a positive virus test.
At the height of the second wave in January, around 900 people across Barts hospitals had coronavirus and some 200 were in intensive care.
