Bravo to Cavendish Farms for supporting the city of Jamestown with a $50,000 donation toward the new ladder truck purchased for the Jamestown Fire Department. The funds will help replace the money used from an equipment replacement fund to pay for the more than $1 million truck. Fundraising continues to help pay for the new equipment.
Bravo to donors for stepping up and helping the Jamestown Salvation Army exceed its annual fundraising goal. The Salvation Army s goal was $151,000, and $192,000 was raised through its annual Red Kettle Campaign, maled-in donations and online support. The money funds a number of programs that the Salvation Army provides.

The city of Jamestown accepted a donation of $50,000 from Cavendish Farms for its ladder truck fund. A ceremonial presentation of a check took place Monday at the Jamestown Fire Department. On behalf of Cavendish, I d like to say it is nice to have this kind of equipment here, said Mark Urquhart, director of western agriculture for Cavendish Farms.

The P.E.I. Department of Agriculture and Land had 934 active management plans on file at the start of 2020, each allowing a farmer to deviate from the province’s mandated three-year crop rotation on a particular field.

Monte Benz is from Steele, N.D., but picked up his vacuum-packed vegetable meal package business and moved it to Long Prairie, Minn., a few years ago after running into labor problems. Today, the revived business has expanded greatly and still gets onions from Steele, where he’s put up a new storage building. It still gets potatoes from the northern Red River Valley. Manufacturing Essentials Certification (MEC) -Reskilling / Upskilling and Onboarding Initiative is a proactive industry-driven initiative designed to address recruitment and retention challenges currently faced within Ontario’s manufacturing sector, addressing widespread skills and labour shortages which have been especially heightened due to the pandemic impacts of COVID-19.
