Saturday proved to be a fruitful night for Barrow’s pubs and restaurants. It was the first weekend back for hospitality businesses since the easing of Covid-19 restrictions allowed the sector to welcome customers back inside on May 17. Establishments saw steady trade and little objection to virus safety measures such as social distancing and track and trace. Michael Mulgrew, owner of the King Alfred on Walney, said it was as a good night for the pub. The King Alfred recently surprised customers after unveiling its major refurbishment which saw carpets replaced, a new wooden ceiling, lighting, seating area and a mural of Walney by a local artist installed.
