KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) The Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners and Administrator Tracie Moored tonight responded to discussions surrounding the countyâs efforts to help residents experiencing homelessness.
During a virtual meeting, Commissioners discussed the matter at length about ongoing efforts to curb homelessness in the community. Board members said there had been much correspondence from community members on the subject.
Kalamazoo County Board Chair Tracy Hall said that one of those efforts made was an attempt to purchase the former Lakeside Academy building, but the purchase had ultimately gone to a different bidder.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. â Increased housing option, the Justice Facility project and Kalamazoo County Governments diversity policies were reviewed today by the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners.
âOur residents come first, which is why we listen to their feedback and engage with the community so we can ensure Kalamazoo County Government is providing quality and consistent programs and services,â said Kalamazoo County Board Chair Tracy Hall. âVoters made it clear they support the county helping residents obtain permanent, affordable housing, which is why we are committed to creating solutions.â

KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) Tuesday, the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners reviewed its priorities for the year 2021.
According to officials, the county boardâs agenda includes increasing housing options, keeping the Justice Facility project on track, and strengthening Kalamazoo County Governments diversity and inclusion policies.

LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) Wednesday, three new State Representatives from the Southwest Michigan area were sworn in for their first terms in office.
To begin with, State Rep. Steve Carra (R-Three Rivers), was sworn in by House Clerk Gary Randall.

KALAMAZOO, MI The Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners elected Tracy Hall to serve as board chair and Tami Rey to serve as vice chair during the Tuesday, Jan. 5 meeting.
Hall was first elected chair mid‐year last year. Rey will be serving her first term as vice chair.
“I am honored to be chosen as board chair and look forward to continuing to serve the residents of Kalamazoo County,” Hall said in a prepared statement. “There’s no doubt 2020 was a challenging year for many of us, so let’s treat 2021 as a clean slate to focus on extraordinary county business. That starts with working together on behalf of constituents.”
