Third level GAA postponed for the upcoming academic year

Third level GAA postponed for the upcoming academic year Reporter:   ); There will be no Sigerson Cup football or Fitzgibbon Cup Hurling this Spring after the GAA’s Higher Education committee have confirmed that there will be no Third level Championships taking place in the remainder of this academic year. The committee had been hopeful of staging a comprehensive programme of games, including the Sigerson and Fitzgibbon Cups, but given the current landscape in the country and the public health difficulties, this will not be possible. While this means there will be no matches played in the remainder of the academic year, the body have committed to a consultation process with key stakeholders in the hope that some of the disappointing outcomes of 2020/2021 can be offset going forward.
