BOZEMAN â A man was rescued Sunday night after crashing his snowmobile into a tree near West Yellowstone.
According to a news release, on Sunday at 9:20 p.m. West Yellowstone Police Department Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a snowmobile crash about five miles north of West Yellowstone near the Madison Arm of Hebgen Lake.
The injured snowmobiler, a 43-year-old man, had sustained a possible broken shoulder and punctured lung when the snowmobile he was riding went off the trail and crashed into a tree.

WEST YELLOWSTONE, Mt. (KIFI)-A 43-year-old snowmobiler was transported to Big Sky Medical Center after a snowmobile crash near West Yellowstone.
West Yellowstone Police were notified at 9:20 p.m. Sunday of a snowmobile crash 5 miles north of West Yellowstone near the Madison Arm of Hebgen Lake. Gallatin County Sheriff Search and Rescue volunteers were dispatched to the scene.
The snowmobiler, who was not identified, suffered a possible broken shoulder and punctured lung. Rescuers said his snowmobile apparently left the trail and struck a tree.
Search and Rescue located the snowmobiler, loaded him onto a specialized litter, and transported him to a waiting Hebgen Basin Rural Fire District ambulance. His condition is unknown.
Man Strikes Tree in Snowmobile Accident
Late on Sunday, the West Yellowstone Police Department received a call reporting a single snowmobile crash. The crash was reported about five miles north of West Yellowstone near the Madison Arm of Hebgen Lake.
A 43-year-old man had suffered injuries when the snowmobile he was riding left the trail and struck a tree. Gallatin County Sheriff Search and Rescue volunteers in West Yellowstone responded.
The snowmobiler was transported in a specialized rescue stretcher to a Hebgen Basin Rural Fire District ambulance. He was then taken to Big Sky Medical Center. The man suffered a possible broken shoulder and punctured lung from the incident.

According to the Gallatin County Sheriff s Office, search and rescue crews were dispatched to the M hiking trail near Bozeman on Friday, January 1.
At approximately 1:51 p.m. on Friday, Gallatin County Sheriff’s Deputies and Search and Rescue responded to a report of a 77-year-old male who fell and injured his leg while hiking the M Trail. The caller stated that she and her father were descending the M Trail when the man lost his footing on a rocky portion, fell, and injured his right quadricep, becoming immobilized.
Search and Rescue crews were able to locate the injured man and loaded him onto a one-wheel litter. SAR members transported the patient down to the trail head where paramedics from AMR and Bridger Canyon Fire Department were able to further assess the patient’s needs and transport the patient to Bozeman Health Deaconess Hospital.
