Nine head coaches of University of Iowa intercollegiate athletic programs have received contract extensions. The announcement was made Monday by Gary Barta, Henry B. and Patricia B. Tippie Director of Athletics Chair.
Head coaches given extensions include the sports of men’s basketball (Fran McCaffery to June 2028), wrestling (Tom Brands to June 2028), baseball (Rick Heller to June 2026), women’s soccer (Dave DiIanni to June 2026), women’s basketball (Lisa Bluder to June 2026), women’s golf (Megan Menzel to June 2024), softball (Renee Gillispie to June 2026), field hockey (Lisa Cellucci to June 2026) and women’s tennis (Sasha Schmid to June 2024). A number of assistant coaches in several sports also received contract extensions.

Jacksonville Jaguars Urban Meyer, Trent Baalke subpoenaed in Iowa Hawkeyes discrimination lawsuit
The Jaguars said Wednesday that coach Urban Meyer and general manager Trent Baalke were subpoenaed as part of a lawsuit filed by lawyers for Black former Iowa football players alleging discrimination by some members of the school s coaching staff.
The team said Meyer and Baalke submitted a written response to the subpoena, which is seeking information about the Jaguars decision to hire and then fire former Iowa strength coach Chris Doyle in January. We respect and will cooperate with the legal process as required, the team said. However, the Jaguars have no information that would be relevant to the lawsuit between student-athletes and the University of Iowa.
