A coronavirus outbreak at paedophile pop star Gary Glitter s prison has caused the local town s infection rate to soar to one of the highest in the country.
Underhill and The Grove – a council area on Dorset s Isle of Portland, which is home to HMP The Verne where the 76-year-old is locked up – recorded 927 cases per 100,000 people last week.
Only four areas of England had bigger outbreaks in the week that ended February 20, according to Department of Health data that break the country down into 7,000 postcode-based areas.
And the rate of infection in that one small area of Dorset is 10 times higher than the rate for the county as a whole.

Child-killing nurse Beverley Allitt has been given the Covid jab ahead of her now-30-year-old victim who she left severely disabled and needing round-the-clock care.
Allitt, who is now 52, was among 360 patients at Rampton Secure Hospital, Nottinghamshire, to be offered the coronavirus vaccine in recent days.
The former nurse, who was branded the Angel of Death, killed four children and tried to poison nine others during a 59-day spree at Grantham and Kesteven Hospital, Lincolnshire, in 1991.
During that time Allitt attempted to kill two-month-old Katie Phillips four times by either suffocation or with injections of insulin and potassium.
Katie, now 30, suffered partial paralysis, brain damage and blindness as a result and now requires constant care - but she still has not received her own vaccination.
