If a Democrat says something racist nobody seems to mind.
A Texas Democrat party leader from Lamar County has resigned after using a racial slur to describe South Carolina Senator Tim Scott.
Democratic Party Chairman Gary O’Connor of Lamar County in Texas resigned Tuesday after facing backlash for calling Republican South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott an “oreo.”
O’Connor called the senator the racially derogatory term following Scott’s rebuttal to President Joe Biden’s joint address to congress Wednesday for the Republican party.
“I had hoped that Scott might show some common sense, but it seems clear he is little more than an oreo with no real principles,” O’Connor wrote.

A Texas Democrat official was “compelled” to offer his resignation from his post on Tuesday after he referred to Senator Tim Scott (R-South Carolina) as a racial slur following Scott’s rebuttal to the President’s recent congressional address.
Lamar County Democratic Party Chairman Gary O’Connor attacked Senator Scott with a degrading term meant to insult Black Americans whom some perceive as “acting White” just because they don’t toe the liberal line. In a now deleted Facebook post, the official referred to Scott – one of just three sitting Black Senators and the nation’s only Black Republican Senator – as an “oreo.” Following the rebuttal speech, O’Connor posted this denigrating statement:
Texas Democrats Turn Down Resignation of Chair Who Called Sen. Tim Scott a Racial Slur
A Democrat state official in Texas offered to resign over a racial slur he used a racial slur to describe Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), one of a handful of black U.S. senators, but Democrats in the state rejected the offer.
Representatives of the Lamar County, Texas Democratic Party met to consider the resignation of Gary O’Connor, the party chair, the party said in a statement emailed to The Epoch Times.
“Our local Democrats have taken the last few days to reflect upon this incident. After much discussion especially among our local Black Democrats we chose not to accept Mr. O’Connor’s resignation. Mr. O’Connor has written a public letter of apology to Sen. Tim Scott, and Lamar County Democrats join him in this apology,” the party added.
“As a result, I feel compelled to offer my resignation as chair of the Lamar County Democratic Party for consideration by the County Executive Committee,” he continued.
In his since-deleted post, Mr. O’Connor said: “I had hoped Scott might show some common sense, but it seems clear he is little more than an oreo with no real principles.”
The resignation came amid signs that Republicans had no intention of dropping the issue.
On Tuesday, Texas Republican Party chairman Allen West announced that he would deliver a package of Oreo cookies to state Democrats, blasting the “duplicitous hypocrisy of the true party of racism.”
