DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. Some businesses impacted by February s ice storms and power outages have come together to help their communities and thank utility crews that have worked to restore power in the hardest-hit regions.
One of those businesses is Bishop s BBQ in Dinwiddie County. My husband and I had a conversation, we knew there was something we needed to do, Whitney Bishop said.
While the Bishops served up meals to power crews, the community stepped up as well.

The distributor, which has locations in Northwest of the US, unveiled its new state-of-the-art specialty gas mixture lab a year ago.
“Our gas production and distribution facility, headquartered in Smokey Point in Washington State is the only one of its kind in the Pacific Northwest,” CWS said in a statement.
The system was configured, engineered, and installed under the direction of Gary Emerson, the Lead Manager for all CWS fill plant operations.
“The system cylinder chamber offers a controlled environment to guarantee the end result,” CWS said. “Accelerated production capacity allows us to respond quickly with the highest purity gas mixtures in the marketplace. The lengthy certification process began late last summer 2020. ISO accreditation was the next logical step for high purity mixtures to be a part of Central Welding Supply’s everyday business.”
GARY â Leaders in the Jerome Prince administration say they are serious about finally unloading hundreds of parcels once owned by the long-defunct and scandal-plagued Gary Urban Enterprise Association.
In the cityâs possession since 2007, the land could have been unloaded or redeveloped under the past mayoral administration of Karen Freeman-Wilson and Rudy Clay, but it never happened.
Early on in GUEA s fallout, Clay touted a comprehensive plan using those parcels to develop housing in the Emerson neighborhood with the promise of new storefronts in the 600 and 700 blocks of Broadway.
GUEA was formed in 1985 under a state law permitting U.S. Steel and other Gary businesses to reduce their property taxes by making charitable donations of more than $15 million to the association between 2000 and 2003.
