Kochi, Dec 18 : The Kerala Police on Friday took suo moto cognizance of a popular actress s outpouring in her Instagram account where she wrote about being harassed by two men when she and her family visited a premier shopping mall.
The actress, however, is yet to give an official complaint but the Kochi police decided to take up the case based on her statement in her Instagram account.
She said she was caught off guard and, hence could not react instantly against the men s inappropriate action.

“These women workers should also be protected with laws similar to the one aiding migrant labourers. Steps to ensure their safety at the workplace must be taken,” she said.

Three days after the incident, the police had registered a case invoking Sections 342 (wrongful confinement) and 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code based on the woman’s husband’s complaint that she was locked up against her will in the apartment.
