Driver did not know cocaine would still be in his system

Skipton Law Courts A DRIVER made the mistake of thinking the drugs he had taken would be out of his system before getting behind the wheel, heard Skipton Magistrates Court. Paul Gamble, 48, who admitted two counts of drugs driving, was banned for three years after the court heard he had a previous drink driving conviction within 10 years. Gamble was stopped by police on Keighley Road, Skipton on August 10, the court heard on Friday. He tested positive at the roadside and was taken to the police station for a blood test that revealed he had 32 microgrammes of cocaine in one litre of blood, the specified limit is 10, and 200 microgrammes of benzoylecgonine, a by-product of cocaine. The specified limit is 50.

Man broke girlfriend s finger, headbutted and punched her during weekends away

Skipton Law Courts A MAN broke one of his partner’s fingers, headbutted and punched her during weekend trips away, heard Skipton Magistrates Court. During one stay at Skipton’s Hotel Rendezvous in October, Andrew Mullen repeatedly punched the woman in her back and stamped on her glasses. Both had been drinking, they had argued about her previous partner and Mullen had told her to get out, the court heard today (Friday). She had stood outside in the car park for a while before getting cold and going back in, said prosecutor Nadine Clough. Mullen, 53, who by that time had drunk three bottles of wine, told the woman he was sick of the sight of her, while she accused him of being an alcoholic.
