“Thank you, thank you. Welcome to UT Martin Jeopardy,” announced UT Martin Chancellor Keith Carver.
UT Martin is hoping to win the “daily double” for this year’s Captain’s Challenge.
“We match dollar for dollar, up to $300 per transaction. So essentially any gift that comes in, if it’s a $300 gift, that then becomes $600,” said Matt Borden, the Associate Director of Annual Giving for UT Martin.
They’re virtually calling on friends and alumni to bring in the donation.
Those in attendance included, but was not limited to, University of Tennessee President Randy Boyd and Chicago Cubs Pitcher Alec Mills.

University of Tennessee at Martin has taken a big step towards their goals of diversity.
Recently, Chancellor Keith Carver appointed Dr. Mark McCloud as the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer for UT Martin, a position he has held as an interim appointment since 2020.
“Inside and outside the classroom, faculty and staff, hiring processes, all the different nuances of diversity and inclusion at the university,” McCloud said. “And so moving forward, we begin to look at a diversity plan.”
McCloud’s appointment is part of a larger attempt to reach strategic goals when it comes to diversity and inclusion, which began with the Skyhawk Creed in 2020.

UTM has launched a new license plate, according to a news release.
The plate, which was chosen through a university-wide survey, replaces the older version from 2003, according to UTM.
“The new UT Martin specialty plate provides our alumni and friends with yet another opportunity to display their UT Martin pride,” said Chancellor Keith Carver. “I’m eager to fill
the highways and byways with a Skyhawk fleet of cars and trucks across Tennessee.”
The plate received 40% percent of the vote and will available upon request at local county clerk offices across the state.
UTM says proceeds from each plate benefit the Tennessee Arts Commission and the Tennessee Highway Fund, and will cost $36 to renew annually.
