WBO light heavyweight titleholder Joe Smith Jr could be on the verge of defending his title against Daniel Jacobs this fall according to what representatives for both sides have confirmed to RingTV. Keith Connolly, who manages Jacobs, says that Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn made a lucrative offer to Joe Smith for the bout, one which he believes will garner serious consideration.
“I think it was a great offer that Eddie made. It’s multiple times more than Joe Smith has ever made in his life, so I think it was a strong offer. It’ll be the biggest fight between New Yorkers in New York in a long time.”

The chief suspect for the murder of mother of two Jennifer Poole (24) in north Dublin was still being questioned by gardaà on Sunday night as a fundraiser for her funeral costs and for her young children had raised almost â¬35,000.
Ms Poole, who had a daughter (7) and son (4), was fatally injured in a knife attack in her home on Melville Drive, Finglas, just before 2pm on Saturday.
Her son was in the apartment at the time, while Ms Pooleâs daughter is believed to have been with a relative when the attack took place.
Gardaà believe a man well known to Ms Poole fatally stabbed her in her first-floor apartment, located in duplex housing on a private estate, before jumping from the first floor balcony and fleeing the area.
