Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley will host a free tutor training workshop from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Aug. 17, 19, 24, and 26 at Pottawatomie Community Center, 8 North Ave. in St. Charles.
Attendance will be limited to allow for social distancing.
Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley helps adults read, write, speak, and understand English by matching them with trained volunteer tutors who provide in-person or virtual lessons once each week at a time that is convenient for both.

Missing person alert issued for Campton Hills man John J. Tarnowski
Editor s note: Authorities said late Thursday night that John J. Tarnowski had been found.
The Illinois State Police activated an Endangered and Missing Person Advisory alert to assist Campton Hills police in finding a 63-year-old man.
The missing man, John J. Tarnowski, was last seen at Meijer in Elgin at 9:18 a.m. Thursday and left in his white pickup truck, a news release said. The truck was found unoccupied at 7 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of West Cortland Street and North Ashland Avenue in Chicago.
Tarnowski has a condition that places him in danger, according to police.
