Cambridge Schools Partner with MVHC
CAMBRIDGE, Ohio – One of the psychology theories that all educators study in college is Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. Simply stated for an educational setting, Maslow’s theory means that students need to have their basic physiological needs like food, water, and sleep, met before they can achieve their full potential in the classroom.
“All educators will tell you that you can’t get to academic achievement if a student’s basic needs are not being fulfilled,” Superintendent Dan Coffman said.
For example, if a person is extremely hungry, it is hard to focus on anything else besides food.

We all know that financial resources for school districts continue to come up short of meeting the needs of students. One way Cambridge Schools makes up for a lack of funding is by pursuing mutually beneficial partnerships with other local entities.
Recently, the school district partnered with Allwell Behavioral Health Services to provide additional counselling and support to the students in the district. While the school district has cooperated with mental health agencies in the past, through this partnership, Allwell will provide a full time licensed social worker dedicated exclusively to the Cambridge City School District.

A hashtag or what non-Twitter users may call a slogan, Cambridge City School District started using this school year is #CambridgeCares.
The hashtag was originally intended to let our students and families dealing with the pandemic know that the district cares about the health and well-being of each student. But its use is expanding to include all the acts of kindness that our students, teachers and staff engage in each and every day.
This week has been designated as Jeans Week where teachers and staff are permitted to wear blue jeans each day if they contribute to Feed My People, a food bank in town that is struggling to stay in business.

Injured bicyclist undergoes surgery at Columbus hospital
Boy, 14, was struck by a tractor-trailer while riding on East Pike Road near Old Washington in Guernsey County.

The State Highway Patrol s Cambridge post continues to investigate an accident on Thursday on East Pike Road near Old Washington that seriously injured a 14-year-old bicyclist.
The teen, identified by family as Andrew Waugh, reportedly underwent surgery Monday at Nationwide Children s Hospital in Columbus to repair a fractured pelvis.
Social media posts by the victim s father, Hershel Waugh Jr. of Cambridge, and his grandmother, Wendi Waugh of Newcomerstown, stated doctors told the family things went well following the surgery.
