If you’ve ever asked yourself if would be more correct to say, “ Since I don’t feel well, I shouldn’t go to work today,” or “I shouldn’t go to work today because I don’t feel well,” you’ve come to the right place. Since and because are another of those pairs of English words that seem like synonyms, but we’ve sensed (or been told) there is a proper time and place to use each one.

Biden s Infrastructure Plan Would Make America Outsource Again

Biden’s Infrastructure Plan Would Make America Outsource Again Commentary President Joe Biden is in the midst of a media blitz to garner support for his so-called infrastructure plan, the American Jobs Plan. At a recent press conference, Biden said his plan “is a blueprint for infrastructure needed for tomorrow, not just yesterday, tomorrow. For American jobs, for American competitiveness.” There are two problems with that statement. First, Biden’s plan is light on infrastructure, as it’s typically and traditionally defined. Second, it would make America less competitive. In fact, it would almost assuredly make America outsource jobs again.

Meeting of the minds

Winnipeg Free Press By: Barbara Bowes Opinion New day. New challenge. Welcome to the global pandemic. After a year of managing unexpected changes, COVID-19 has taught us the value of open-minded leadership. It’s a skill that is frequently overlooked and rarely included in leadership training. Is open-mindedness simply the ability to accept new ideas with ease? Is it all about flexibility and accepting people with different ideas? The Cambridge Dictionary says open-mindedness is defined as one’s willingness to consider ideas and opinions that are new or different to their own. In other words, the ability to consider a wide variety of alternatives before a firm decision is made. An open-minded person is therefore more receptive to different possibilities and is usually less prejudiced, biased, and/or less rigid or stubborn.

Emmanuel Nzomiwu: Frequent doctors strikes and Ngige s role

Daily Post Nigeria Published Frequent strikes by medical doctors have become a recurring decimal in Nigeria. This trend is seen as a contributory factor to the weakness of our healthcare system. Most worrisome is that an end to this national quagmire appears not to be in sight. On Thursday, April 1, 2021, the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) embarked on yet another indefinite strike. The resident doctors commenced the strike just a few moments after signing an agreement with the Federal Government at the office of the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige. Ngige had invited both parties to a conciliation meeting, following a Notice of Trade Dispute sent to his office by NARD. The heated meeting which lasted for about seven hours, extensively and exhaustively deliberated on all the issues raised by the aggrieved doctors, including the non-payment of salaries of some house officers, non-recruitment of house officers and non-payment of National Minimum

Progress is a myth. What?! Progress is non-existent? No, but “progress,” if it is to be embraced with enthusiasm, must truly be progress. According to the Cambridge Dictionary, the noun “progress” means (in UK usage) “the process of changing or developing toward an improved situation or condition.” And who, pray tell, is the arbiter of what constitutes an improved situation or condition? Ay, there’s the rub. Surely, most everyone looks forward to and is grateful for true progress.
