It’s another month and there’s a new record price for 1986-87 Fleer Michael Jordan Rookie Cards. Two separate cards, both graded Gem Mint PSA 10 (Lot 12, Lot 27), sold on January 30 for $738,000 through Goldin Auctions.
While records for iconic sports cards are a regular thing right now, it’s the level of the surge that’s notable here. It’s a jump of more than $500,000 from less than a month ago. Another PSA 10 Jordan RC went for $217,200 on January 3. Another closed at $211,560 in December.
Go back a year to December, 2019 and PSA 10 1986-87 Fleer Michael Jordan Rookie Cards could be had for about $32,000.
The sports card market is showing no signs of slowing down.
A pair of Michael Jordan 1986 Fleer rookie cards - both graded PSA 10 - set a new record after fetching $738,000 each in a Goldin Auctions sale Saturday, according to Darren Rovell of Action Network.
Jordan rookie cards with a Gem Mint 10 grade used to sell for between $18,000 and $30,000, but as Rovell notes, their value has increased since the release of The Last Dance documentary in 2020.

The market for Michael Jordan trading cards remains extremely strong with more record-breaking auctions finalized on Saturday night.
Two Gem Mint 10 1986 Fleer Jordan rookie cards sold for $780,000 each only weeks after the PSA Gem Mint 10 record for a Jordan card was set at $150,000.

The most astounding sale was of two gem mint Michael Jordan 1986 Fleer rookie cards in PSA 10 grade that sold for $738,000 each.
