–The San Luis Obispo Police Department held a press conference Tuesday in San Luis Obispo regarding Monday’s officer-involved shooting that left one officer dead and one wounded. Authorities provided additional details surrounding the incident, including the names of the officers involved and the suspect’s name.
The officer who lost his life has been identified as San Luis Obispo Police Detective Luca Benedetti. Detective Steve Orozco was injured and transported to Sierra Vista Hospital, where he was treated and released Monday evening. He is expected to fully recover from his injuries.

A Stockton police officer responding to a domestic disturbance call was fatally shot Tuesday, the second California officer to be killed in the line of duty in 24 hours.
Officer Jimmy Inn, 30, was gunned down almost immediately upon arriving at a Stockton home shortly after 10 a.m. A 911 caller had reported seeing a woman outside screaming and bleeding with a ripped shirt, Police Chief Eric Jones said. The chief characterized the attack on Inn as “violent, blatant and a very sudden assault.”

A second officer arrived and was shot at by the gunman. The officer returned fire before the man briefly retreated into the home, grabbed an 8-year-old boy and tried to strangle the child, Jones said.

SAN LOIS OBISPO, Calif. Two police officers were shot Monday one fatally while serving a search warrant in San Luis Obispo, California, according to authorities. The scope and nature of the warrant were not disclosed.

One of the officers was killed in the shooting, while the other was transported to an area hospital in stable condition, according to the San Luis Obispo Police Department. The suspect was killed by police, authorities said.
The San Luis Obispo Police Department is mourning the loss of one of their own this morning. Authorities say it happened at around 5:20 p.m. yesterday. Two officers were serving a search warrant at an apartment complex on Camellia Court near South Higuera Street. Both officers were shot. One officer died, the other was last reported to be in stable condition. The suspect died at the scene. San Luis Obispo City Manager Derek Johnson said “This is a tragedy beyond measure for all of those who serve and care about our community.” The names of the officers and suspect have not been released. An investigation is ongoing.
