Update: Two San Luis Obispo police officers were serving a search warrant at a home on Camellia Court when a man shot both of the officers. Investigators are not releasing information regarding the officers’ injuries at this time. Officers later shot and killed the suspect.
Original article: A San Luis Obispo man allegedly shot an officer on Camellia Court on Monday afternoon. Officers then sent a dog into the man’s home, and shortly afterwards shot him, according to scanner traffic.
Neighbors heard banging on a door and then a shotgun blast at about 5 p.m.

A California police officer has been killed in the line of duty and another one injured after they were shot while serving a search warrant.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. at an apartment complex in San Luis Obispo, California approximately 10 miles north of Pismo beach when the two officers arrived at the residence on Camellia Court, off of Margarita Avenue near South Higuera Street in the city, according to a statement issued by the city of San Luis Obispo.

San Luis Obispo Police have released the names of the officers involved in an active shooting incident on Monday, May 10.
Detective Luca Benedetti was shot and killed Monday while serving a search warrant to an apartment on Camellia Court in San Luis Obispo.
“Yesterday I had to share the most difficult news I’ve ever had to deliver,” said Derek Johnson, San Luis Obispo City Manager at a press conference. “That our community lost one of the dedicated servants while doing his job and keeping the community safe.”
Another officer, Detective Steve Orozco, was injured during the incident and was transported to Sierra Vista Hospital where he was released Monday evening.

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - One San Luis Obispo police officer was killed and another wounded while they served a search warrant at a residence Monday evening.
Police said the shooting occurred at an apartment on Camellia Court, off Margarita Avenue near South Higuera Street in San Luis Obispo around 5:20 p.m.
The police department said they were serving the warrant when two officers were shot.
The shooter was reportedly shot and killed at the scene.
One officer has died and the second was transported to an area hospital and is listed as being in stable condition.
