Colectivo C733 builds brickwork Matamoros Market in Mexico

A group of designers known as Colectivo C733 has completed a brick shopping centre in northern Mexico topped with roof volumes that bring in daylight and allow hot air to escape. Matamoros Market takes its name from the city where it is located – Matamoros, in the northeastern state of Tamaulipas – where it is set in a residential area on the outskirts. Matamoros Market has a modular roof The shopping centre was conceived for a competition calling for prototypes for public facilities in the country s vulnerable areas. Mexico City s Colectivo C733 created a design that is intended to be durable, flexible and partly prefabricated. The collective consists of Gabriela Carrillo, Carlos Facio, Eric Valdez, Israel Espín and José Amozurrutia.

(Shutterstock) ELMHURST, IL Two Elmhurst residents are among the latest arrests by the Elmhurst Police Department. Here is information from the latest police reports: Fleeing from officer Angelo T. Burnett, 20, of Elmhurst, was cited shortly before midnight Tuesday at Michigan and North on charges of obstructing a police officer, disobeying a traffic control signal, improper lighting and improper window tinting. He was released on bond. According to a police report, an officer stopped Burnett for having one headlight and tinted windows. When the officer detected an odor of burnt marijuana and saw marijuana roaches in plain view in the ashtray. Burnett then drove away, committing several traffic violations. He was later stopped.

Brick architecture: the winners of Brick Award 20

The ninth edition of the Brick Awards has concluded. Presented every two years to innovative brick architecture, the prize registered the highest ever number of submissions in 2020: 644 projects by 520 architects in 55 different countries were nominated for awards. Following the initial selection of 50 finalists, the successful candidates were submitted to a jury of five world-renowned architects: Helena Glantz of Urban Design (Sweden), Toni Gironès Saderra of Estudi d’Arquitectura Toni Gironès (Spain), Tina Gregoric of Dekleva Gregoric Architects (Slovenia), Mette Kynne Frandsen of Henning Larsen Architects A/S (Denmark) and Jonathan Sergison of Sergison Bates Architects (UK). During the awards ceremony, held online for the first time, the international panel of judges announced the winners in five categories and the two top awards: the Grand Prize and the Special Prize.
