Anti-discrimination laws reportedly do not go far enough to address the needs of expecting employees. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler stated she was expecting her first child years ago when she ran from a House office building to Capitol Hills to vote. While Rep. Linda Sánchez, D-Calif., during her pregnancy in 2009, said she had gestational diabetes.
