BART and regional rail providers are pushing forward with pursuing a second transbay crossing, unveiling a new plan Wednesday despite ridership ravaged by the pandemic. BART and the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority released a new website introducing Link21, a rail improvement program, to bring together intercity, commuter and high-speed rail. The goal is to connect what’s called the Northern California “mega region” covering 21 counties.

Website open house on I-80 plan now available
Districts 3 and 4 of the state Department of Transportation are the sponsors.
The I-80 Comprehensive Multimodal Corridor Plan covers about a 70-mile span of I-80 in Solano, Yolo and Sacramento counties and will include various modes of transportation, including Capitol Corridor passenger rail, freight rail, the Ports of Benicia and West Sacramento, local and express bus routes as well as bike and pedestrian facilities, a Caltrans statement said.
The goals of the plan are to better manage traffic congestion and maximize traffic flow, as well as reduce air pollution and reduce greenhouse emissions.

Steve Bird, of Dixon, and Robert McDonnell, of Vallejo, will take their seats and join the other members in considering a host of issues that include whether to approve $125,000 to fund priority projects for older adults and people with disabilities.
Those priorities, as set by Consolidated Transit Service Agency, include the Solano Older Adults Medical Trip Concierge Call Center Program; Sutter/Solano medical trips; other medical needs; a veterans mobility study; improving nonprofit partnerships; improving bus stops; and marketing the Older Adult Medical Concierge Program.
SACRAMENTO Caltrans Districts 3 and 4 are planning a virtual open house and survey between Jan. 8 and 15 to inform the public about the Interstate 80 Comprehensive Multimodal Corridor Plan. Caltrans, partners and stakeholders are working together to develop a plan for the I-80 corridor.
