HUNTINGTON — Marshall University President Dr. Jerome Gilbert was recognized as the Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year on Friday afternoon.

FRANKLIN DAVID CHRISTIAN SHULER, M.D., PhD., C.I.M.E. lost his four year battle with HLH, a rare autoimmune disease on January 5, 2021 at Cabell Hospital, Huntington, WV. He was born January 14, 1967 in Steubenville, OH.
He was a 1985 graduate of Weir High School, Weirton, WV where he made many lifetime friends who stood by him and with him, wearing their “Fight for Frank” t-shirts in support of him all around the world.
He was a 1989 PreMed/Biology graduate of Bethany College in Bethany, WV.
Frank was the first student to graduate from WVU, Morgantown, WV with a MD/PhD with honors in 1996. He did his residency at UPMC, Pittsburgh, PA in Orthopaedic Trauma surgery.
