Despite gavels falling in the Iowa Statehouse last week, that won’t be the last time the legislature will convene in the year 2021. Both District 79 State Representative Dustin Hite and District 40 State Senator Ken Rozenboom anticipate a special session to begin as soon as August for the redistricting process, pending final data from the U.S. Census Bureau. Hite and Rozenboom both say Iowa has a unique system that appropriates voters through the Legislative Services Agency and subsequent votes by lawmakers to approve or deny maps drawn by the non-partisan group.
