Meyer brings term-limit discussion to City of Pratt meeting

Pratt Tribune
Outgoing Pratt City Commissioner Doug Meyer would like to the opportunity to continue serving his community as a city commissioner, but term-limits currently in place negate that possibility. He brought the issue to discussion at the December 7 Pratt City Commission meeting, and again to the Monday, December 21 meeting, after seeking commuinty input.
The Monday meeting, planned to be Zoom available, was derailed by technical issues.
The term-limit regulation was put in place a decade ago as a result of a public vote held in a special election. Currently, city commissioners serve three-year terms and are eligible to run for a second three-year term, but not for a third term.

The end of the year allows us some time to reflect and remember. Baseball lost many major figures this year, seven of them Hall of Famers - second baseman Joe Morgan, outfielder Al Kaline, Lou Brock, and pitchers Whitey Ford, Bob Gibson, Phil Niekro, and Tom Seaver. The game also lost other big figures such as Dick Allen, Tony Fernandez, Jim Wynn, Jay Johnstone, Claudell Washington, Matt Keough, Ed Farmer, Roger Moret, Tony Taylor. and Ron Perranoski. We also lost some Kansas City Athletics, including Jay Hankins, Jack McMahan, Dan Pfister, Bobby Prescott, Hal Raether, Hal Smith, and most notably, Don Larsen, who is the only pitcher to ever throw a perfect game in the World Series.
J Vineyards Cuvee 20
Healdsburg’s J Vineyards has long made one of my favorite go-to sparkling wines.
Its new J Vineyards Cuvee 20 Brut NV ($38), of which I received a sample, is a total pleaser with yeasty, apple, and spice notes. Medium-bodied, it has a slight creaminess yet plenty of crisp acidity.
It would make magic alongside a cold seafood platter, a goat cheese salad with bitter greens, or even an egg salad croissant sandwich.
Cheers: This bubbly will ring in the New Year in style. Given the year we’ve had, you deserve to uncork a special bottle to mark the end of a supremely challenging 2020, and to toast to a hopefully much brighter and lighter 2021.
Holiday Happenings
Keeping you informed about holiday events and attractions:
• A heads-up: Aaron Meyer had to cancel live holiday concerts, which he has performed for years (it would have been the 20th anniversary), but the Aaron Meyer Christmas Special will air on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Thursday-Friday, Dec. 24-25, on FOX 12 (KPTV) and FOX 12+ (KPDX).
It features the rock violinist Meyer, The Brown Sisters, some of Meyer s violin students and more.
The event attracted sponsors, and good friend Ken Wright of KWCellars in Carlton offered his space to record the concert.
Show times are 10 p.m. Dec. 24 and 6:30 a.m. and 10 p.m. Dec. 25 on KPTV and 8 p.m. Dec. 25 on KPDX.
