Kenwood robberies: 4 arrested after 2 men lured by woman they met online to South Ingleside Avenue; pair attacked, robbed, kidnapped, carjacked, Chicago police say

CHICAGO Four people were arrested Tuesday night after two armed robberies in Kenwood on the South Side. About 10 p.m. a 23-year-old man went to meet a woman he had met online in the 4700-block of South Ingleside Avenue, and when he arrived she brought him to the basement where he was attacked by four males, Chicago police said. The males punched him multiple times in the face, forced him to drive his 2014 white Jeep Wrangler to the 7800-block of South Saginaw Avenue, before taking his cellphone and kicking him out of the car, police said. The males all wore ski masks and at least one of them was armed with a gun.

KENWOOD â The United Keetoowah Band recently purchased the Kenwood grocery store, a long-time community staple, and have plans to upgrade the business to better service the area. It will be known as the Keetoowah General Store.Â When UKB Councilor Charles Smoke was looking for a space to hold Saline District meetings, he said he looked at a building behind the store for a potential meeting space. âWeâve been talking to chief (Joe Bunch) about finding a place to have our district meetings for Saline District,â Smoke said. âI seen that building back there and it said for sale. I thought we got a good price so chief was visiting with the former owner. Next thing you know weâre buying the store. So it all worked out good.â
