A day after Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh challenged Navjot Singh Sidhu to contest from Patiala and lose his deposit like Gen JJ Singh (retd) had done , the former Army chief hit back saying the CM was hand-in-glove with the Badals and the 2017 Assembly election result was an outcome of that.
He joined the issue with Sidhu, who has been hinting at a fixed match between the Chief Minister and the Badals.
“To pay them back, now you are helping them by acting on the evidence against the Badals in the Kotkapura police firing case,” Gen Singh (retd) tweeted.

Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], April 26 (ANI): Responding to Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh s plea for help in the war-like Covid situation, the Western Command of the Indian Army on Monday extended all possible help, including medical staff and medically trained combatants, to the state to meet the exigent shortage in hospital, along with support in reviving the oxygen plants that are currently lying defunct.
Lt Gen RP Singh, AVSM, VSM, GOC-in-C, Western Command, at a virtual meeting of the Chief Minister with senior Command officials, also offered to provide staff to run the 100-bed Covid facility proposed to be set up in the building loaned to the state government by CSIR for the purpose.

Lt Gen Singh is an alumnus of the Sainik School Kapurthala, National Defence Academy and the Indian Military Academy. He was commissioned into 19 Madras regiment on December 20, 1986, the spokesman said.

Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh took over as the Chief of Staff (CoS) of the Western Command on Thursday, a defence spokesman said here.
After arriving at the command headquarters, Singh laid a wreath and paid homage at Veer Smriti War Memorial, the official said in a statement.
The command s area of responsibility covers Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and parts of Jammu, he said.
