Along with Give Peace a Chance and Imagine, Walking on Thin Ice holds a vaunted place among the collaborative works of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Indeed, it would be the final, poignant act in the story of their remarkable artistic association.
Composed by Ono, Walking on Thin Ice began to take shape for Yoko during one of the Lennons car trips between their estate in Cold Spring Harbor and New York City s Dakota apartment building. After writing the song s ethereal lyrics, Yoko challenged herself to concoct an ambitious new sound to bring the composition s music to fruition. I wanted to push it a little further, experimentally, she later recalled. So I was thinking about Alban Berg, in one of his operas, you know, where a drunk is going ahaahaahaa. Just sort of saying things, but in such a way that the emphasis is all wrong, distorted (Madeline Bocaro, Just a Story: Walking On Thin Ice, December 8, 2016).
Paul Stanley was so drunk during the photo shoot for Kiss
Hotter Than Hell album cover that he had to be locked in a car for his own protection.
As the guitarist recalled in David Leaf and Ken Sharp s
Kiss: Behind the Mask, I don t know if anybody can make out the back cover of the album, but we were having this wild, wild party with tons of people in weird outfits. Ten minutes after that picture was taken, I passed out. I cut my hand. I don t know how I did it. I was so drunk that they locked me in a car and I couldn t find my way out. A lot of the pictures taken for the back cover have never seen the light of day because some people didn t want to be incriminated by the pictures.
State public health officials say they will begin to vaccinate the next priority group of Iowans against the novel coronavirus by Feb. 1, shifting from front-line health care workers to other populations that face high risk for exposure to and severe illness from the virus.

Augur Investments is demanding US$1 million defamatory damages from the MDC Alliance and Harare lawyer Tendai Biti for allegedly slandering the company on social media.
Biti and the MDC Alliance have both been cited as respondents because they allegedly posted libellous messages on their official Twitter pages.
In summons filed before the High Court, the applicants are Augur Investments, owned by Ken Sharpe, and Russian national Tatiana Aleshina.
They allege that Biti, who is the MDC Alliance vice president, and his party scandalised their good standing over Harare Airport Road tender through tweets.
Augur and Aleshina want an order for the removal of the tweets posted on December 4 and 13 implicating them in the Harare Airport Road scandal and for the defendants to print a retraction and apology in three widely circulating newspapers.
