Local GP comes out in support of the Claremorris Boys National School Published: Monday, 14 December 2020 11:56
A local GP has come out in support of the Claremorris Boys National School Principal and Board of Management.
Spokesman of the Mayo GP Society Dr. Ken Egan says the school was justified in their decision to close last Friday due to the high prevalence of Covid-19 in the Claremorris-Ballyhaunis-Knock area.
The retired Ballindine-based GP claims that around 75% of the 61 Covid-19 cases recorded in Mayo in the last four days have likely been recorded in the locality.
He says if that is accurate, it gives this small part of the county a rate of about 540 cases per 100,000 people.
