All the 10 Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet) national officials were re-elected unopposed during Saturday’s polls.
This was after their opponents withdrew from the race.
The elections, whose nerve centre was Moi International Sports Centre, Karasani, in Nairobi, were conducted virtually and presided over by Acting Commissioner of Labour Hellen Apiyo.
Ms Apiyo said she was satisfied that all the legal requirements for the elections were met.
“Even though voting by virtual methods is not expressly provided for under the Kuppet constitution, I am satisfied by resolutions of the National Governing Council of March 30 and a court order paving the way for virtual voting,” said Apiyo.

The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) woes continue to deepen after some branch members associated with the union turned against their boss Wilson Sossion.
The members led by Stanley Mutai, who recently took over as Kericho branch executive, criticized the manner in which Sossion has conducted operations within the giant union. Sossion has brought this union to the lowest end, we want him out. This is a declaration that we are going to restore the union to its former glory, Mutai stated.

Widely considered the lower Eastern’s economic and political capital, the county has about 624,000 registered voters, according to IEBC.
The UDA candidate has the backing of the interim party chairman and former area senator Johnson Muthama. The new outfit is associated with Deputy President William Ruto.
Katuku, a former Cabinet minister, is being supported by the party leader and Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, while Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has roped in the new ‘Sacred Alliance’ to beat the drum for Kavindu, the former wife of Mr Muthama.
