UN-Habitat and Turkana County hold workshop to look at the future for Kenya’s Kakuma and Kalobeyei refugee camps and host communities Format Lodwar, Kenya, 18 February 2021 - UN-Habitat and the Turkana County Government hosted a workshop looking at various surveys focused on Kakuma Refugee Camp and Kalobeyei Integrated Settlement in north western Kenya. The Kakuma-Kalobeyei Assessment, Survey and Corridor Planning Workshop included representatives from Turkana County Government, Cities Alliance, International Financial Corporation, Swiss Contact, Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Refugee Affairs Secretariat, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and Action Africa Help International. The three-day event to run from 15th to 18th will be held virtually in line with the Covid-19 safety protocols. Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Richard Ngatia said the event will help expand the country’s investment portfolio. “We want to sell Kenyan business opportunities to investors from the UAE,” he said. Nairobi Securities Exchange chairman Kiprono Kittony lauded the collaboration between the two countries which he noted will help boost trade.
