The city of Durango will begin demolition of the building at Mason Center Park, 301 East 12th St., on Monday. Demolition and site restoration work will tentatively be complete June 4.
The project will remove the existing two wings of the building and parking area and stabilize the site with irrigation and sod. The existing gymnasium structure, tennis courts, playground and park area will remain in place.

Dear Action Line: What is up with the Rotary Park “upgrade”? It appears the parking lot was redesigned to hold FEWER and smaller vehicles than it used to. The new curved walkways probably looked great on paper (or a CAD program), but it’ll be a spectator sport to watch them try to plow it next winter.
