Serial Blackburn drink-driver jailed for his latest offence

Whalley Range, Blackburn. A MAN with multiple drink-related driving convictions has been jailed for his latest offence. Blackburn magistrates heard Asad Qamar crashed into the back of a car at a roundabout and a roadside breath test gave a reading nearly four times the limit. He failed to provide a specimen at the police station. Qamar, 37, of Cowper Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and without insurance and failing to provide a specimen for analysis. He was jailed for 12 weeks and banned from driving for four years and six weeks. Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said Qamar had convictions for excess alcohol in 2006 and 2010, in charge of a car while unfit though alcohol twice in 2017 and failing to provide a specimen and disqualified driving in 2019.
