A pilot scheme incorporating social, cost rental and affordable to purchase housing should be instituted for land that the Council bought on the Stradbally road, Cllr Caroline Dwane-Stanley stated at the Portlaoise Municipal District meeting.
Cllr Dwane Stanley was speaking on her own motion calling for such a scheme in the development of Tyrrells land.

All six holes on the Mustang Zone intersected prospective geology with a varying amount of quartz veining, brecciation and silicification, and quartz stockwork, with associated sulphides (pyrite, arsenopyrite, sphalerite, trace galena and chalcopyrite), in sediments (greywacke and siltstone) and in faulted graphitic siltstone.

Trinity College Dublin (TCD) has secured planning permission for a €9m revamp of its Rubrics building which featured in the TV adaptation of Sally Rooney s Normal People.
The imposing Rubrics – which can be seen by campus visitors as they enter TCD through its College Green pedestrian entrance – was built between 1699 and 1702 and is the oldest surviving building on the TCD city centre campus.
Some of its former residents include one of Ireland’s most celebrated writers, the late John McGahern, and former Fianna Fáil finance minister Brian Lenihan who died in 2011.
