Kent Police make 25 arrests so far this year in sex-trafficking operations
KENT, Wash. - Sex trafficking arrests have revealed a disturbing underbelly of crime in a south King County community. So far in January, Kent Police Department arrested 25 people accused of luring and exploiting young victims.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic as more people learn and work from home on the internet, predators also logged on trying to take advantage of the vulnerable. It has offered an opportunity for the sex traffickers and the pimps and stuff to leverage that and really amp up their presence as well, said Assistant Chief Jarod Kasner of the Kent Police Department. It is a continuous business that just keeps overflowing.
On 12/28/2020, Officers were dispatched to the 21700 block of 291ST SE regarding an assault. Officer arrived and arrested the female suspect for assault 4th degree. Due to the jails not excepting her, she was cited and released with a court date.
On 12/28/2020, an officer located a blocking disabled vehicle at the intersection of 3rd AVE and Gomer Events JR DR.The officer assisted in removing the vehicle from the road way.
On 12/28/2020, Officers stopped a vehicle in the 29100 block of SR 169 for speeding. Subsequent investigation determined that the driver had a license status of Suspended in the Third Degree, and the vehicle was displaying a counterfeit Trip Permit. The driver was cited and released at the scene and the vehicle was released to a licensed driver.

KENT, Ohio The Kent Police Department is reporting that two police officers were shot during an officer-involved shooting early Saturday morning following an attempted home invasion.
According to KPD, the incident happened in the 1500 block of East Summit Street near Loop Road around 8 a.m.
In a statement released on Monday, Kent police said that it received a call from a young female inside the residence indicating that an unknown man was attempting to enter the residence. Upon arriving, two Kent police officers were immediately engaged by the 40-year-old suspect, Dante Dixon, who was armed with a handgun.

The joint operation to crack down on impaired driving will involve New York State Police, the Putnam County Sheriff s Dept. and municipal law enforcement. Also joining this initiative will be the Town of Carmel Police and the Kent Police Department.
According to the Putnam County Sheriff s Department s Facebook page, high-visibility police enforcement can lessen drunk driving fatalities by as much as 20 percent. The statewide crackdown will include sobriety checkpoints, which are police stops where officers are set up on a roadway to stop vehicles checking for impaired drivers.
