A storied property set in one of Santa Barbara s most coveted zip codes, this opulent estate echoes with flourishes from Montecito s golden era of architecture. Impeccably constructed in 1885 and coined The Peppers by a college fraternity following a 1920 s fete in the grand ballroom, this turn-of-the-century masterpiece retains period details throughout. Built during the boom of the 1890 s when Montecito s tree-lined lanes were developed by scions of industry, the 10 bedroom, nine-bathroom estate evokes the era s Grand Palladian style.

The accommodations are small but charming, with a modern boho vibe. Light walls and wood furniture are accented by Mexican blankets and homey quilts. A wood deck extends the living space and features a patio with chairs and decorative succulents. The screened outdoor shower and clawfoot tub are especially nice touches, completing the whole luxe-minimal vibe.
Beaches here are known for good surf as well as their proximity to Redwood National and State Parks. A trip out to see the majestic trees is a must for any visitor, and hiking and cycling opportunities abound, as well.
