Apple has taken an increasing interest in health and fitness over the last few years. It s a big focus for Apple Watch, many of its software features across devices, and the company even has its own fitness streaming service. As March 3rd is World Hearing Day, Apple is sharing some preliminary results of its ongoing Hearing Study.
Health research has become so important to Apple that it has published its own Research app, where Apple can partner with outside institutions to conduct health studies. The Hearing Study is one such ongoing study, conducted by Apple together with the University of Michigan School of Public Health, with data shared to the WHO s Make Listening Safe initiative.
Apple has published findings from a study it's doing into people's hearing. Many with hearing loss do not use technologies like hearing aids and many more haven't had a hearing test in 10 years.

Eye conditions that do not cause vision impairment but have economic and social consequences represent a serious and growing challenge for public health services worldwide, according to a new paper published by
The Lancet Global Health Commission.
According to research by the Vision Loss Expert Group, led by Professor Rupert Bourne of Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), issues such as glaucoma, sore eyes, conjunctivitis and diabetic retinopathy affected hundreds of millions of people across the world in 2020 without causing moderate or severe vision impairment, and an ageing population means instances of these conditions are growing. In the UK, conditions that do not cause sight loss or blindness account for around 88% of GP consultations related to eye health.
