Bolton Crown Court. A TEENAGER struck a woman on the head so hard with a metal bar in Leigh that her skull was exposed, a court heard. Callum Barlow, of Walmersley Road, Bury, was just 16 when he attacked Claire Mulcrow in the street following a dispute over damage the teen had caused to his victim’s car. Bob Sastry, prosecuting, told Bolton Crown Court Barlow, now 18, had smashed the window of Mrs Mulcrow’s car on December 20, 2019. The court heard the victim was having issues with a loan shark but it was unclear if this event was related. Mr Sastry said around 1am on New Year’s Day 2020, Mrs Mulcrow was in her car with her husband driving along Wigan Road in Leigh when she saw Barlow walking along the street.

JAILED: Bernard Brookes A CONVICTED paedophile has been jailed after he kept his sordid past secret from a new partner. In 2010 Bernard Brookes was jailed for six years for having sex with a girl aged under 13 and made subject to a sexual offences prevention order for the rest of his life. He was supervised in the community, but Bolton Crown Court heard how he lied to his sex offender manager, claiming he was single. In reality he had started a relationship with a woman who had children and failed to inform her about his background for months. Amanda Johnson, prosecuting, told the court how, under the terms of the sexual offences prevention order, 48-year-old Brookes is banned from approaching or communicating with children and prohibited from allowing children into his home.
