The police watchdog will probe how details of an investigation into allegations of sexual violence against Kiama MP Gareth Ward were leaked to the media.
Mr Ward stood down as Minister for Families, Communities and Disability Services and moved to the crossbench after details of a police strike force investigation into a NSW MP were revealed earlier this month.
He said he was the subject of the criminal inquiry a short time later and denies any wrongdoing.

NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller on Tuesday said police had received a complaint about the leaking of the investigation to the media, which had been forwarded to the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission.

The 44-year-old resident at St Vincent de Paulâs Matthew Talbot hostel for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness was among more than 100 people vaccinated at the Ozanam learning centre in Woolloomooloo on Thursday.
It was the first day of a weekly four-hour clinic for the local community, a joint initiative of organisations including Vinnies, St Vincentâs Hospital, the City of Sydney and the Kirketon Road Centre.
