The letter has been written by Yasmin Qureshi MP, Chair of the All Parties Parliamentary Group on Pakistan (APPG), and signed by parliamentarians from Labour and Conservatives. This is the biggest intervention yet made by the MPs after Pakistan and Bangladesh were added in the list of risky countries and comes soon after British Pakistani lawyer Barrister Rashid Ahmed announced that he will be initiating a proper legal challenge to the UK government for singling out Pakistan.

Ministers say many other countries not on red list have more positive Covid tests per 100,000 people than Pakistan
Dozens of British Members of Parliament (MPs) have asked UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson the reason behind adding Pakistan and Bangladesh to the red list .
The restrictions were announced last week by the British government, saying that the measures were taken after a surge of coronavirus cases in Pakistan.
However, many questioned the logic behind the move as many countries with higher infections rates were not included in the list.

A Labour MP has provoked anger by praising a church whose pastor opposed gay rights despite the party’s leader Keir Starmer apologising for visiting it.
Stephen Timms was accused of “trolling” LGBT+ people after praising the “extraordinary work” of Jesus House for All the Nations in Brent, north London.
His comment came hours after Sir Keir on Monday accepted it was a “mistake” for him to visit the church, which has opened up as a vaccination centre, last week.
The Labour leader had previously posted a video to social media praising the work of the church, but deleted it amid anger from party members over the views of the church’s senior pastor, Agu Irukwu. The pastor opposed same-sex marriage legislation and 2006 proposals that protected LGBT+ people from discrimination.
