Man Allegedly Killing Pets Has St. Louis Neighborhood Up In Arms Neighbors in a St. Louis suburb are seeking answers after a rash of animal killings they believe are deliberate and the work of the same person. In one instance, the suspect allegedly hit a Great Dane puppy with his vehicle on purpose, killing it, reports CBS St. Louis affiliate KMOV. The owner of the puppy, Jason Fincher, said his wife witnessed the incident. She will swear to it, that she stood right here and watched that man swerve and hit that dog, Fincher told KMOV. The Finchers live in the Warren County neighborhood.

Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra bringing back live concerts

The Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra is bringing back the live music. The professional symphony orchestra led by Music Director and Conductor Kirk Muspratt will perform its Spring Chamber Series at the Auditorium at Living Hope Church at 9000 Taft Street by the border of Merrillville and Crown Point, as well as online. The symphony s brass quintet will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 18. They will play a selection of brass music that includes jazz, Americana, movie scores and classical compositions. Principal Trumpet Michael Brozick, Trumpet William Camp, Principal Horn John Schreckengost, Trombone Darren Castellanos, and Principal Tuba Kevin Harrison will perform a globe-spanning selection of pieces by Russian, French, Canadian, German, English and American composers.            

Bowser discusses the coronavirus, statehood at ANC meeting

A local governing body hosted D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser to share updates about the District’s COVID-19 mitigation efforts during a meeting Wednesday. Bowser and several D.C. agency directors spoke at the Foggy Bottom and West End Advisory Neighborhood Commission meeting, where commissioners also approved a Virginia Avenue bike lane and budgeted $12,000 in grants for local nonprofit organizations. Bowser discussed the city’s progress with reopening venues, like indoor movie theaters, and reiterated her support for D.C. statehood before the U.S. House of Representatives voted Thursday to make D.C. the 51st state.
