After three days on the trail, Tailwind Nutrition ambassador athlete Maggie Guterl placed first in the female category and seventh overall in the inaugural Cocodona 250 on May 6. This is the first year of the ultra race, which spans a curated route through central Arizona historic towns and trails.
Guterl, also the brand’s athletes and events manager, finished with a time of 85 hours and 34 minutes. The cutoff for the race is 125 hours. The max elevation for the race is 9,013 feet, with an estimated cumulative gain of 42,313 feet and an estimated cumulative loss of 37,445 feet. A total of 184 runners competed in the race.

My neighbors here and a few other places got some more moisture. Indeed it was in the form of snow and it was pretty chilly when the wind was blowing, but we were still thrilled to get moisture of any description. Others weren’t so fortunate, plus prairie fires have persisted. It’s been a tough year so far in many regards. Here’s hoping for more moisture, sunny days in between, no more fires and better times.
The folks in charge of both the NHSRA and NJrHSRA finals have said that both finals will be happening where scheduled. The NHSRA finals will be in Lincoln, Neb., June 20-26; the NJrHSRA finals will be in Des Moines, Iowa July 20-26.

Rosalie I. Schmitt, affectionately known as “Rosie” or “RoRo,” 83, of Lewes passed away surrounded by her loving family Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at Christiana Care in Newark.
Rosie was born in Lewes Feb. 16, 1938, daughter of the late William Brack Porter and Vera Emily (Holston) Porter. She was a graduate of Lewes High School class of 1956.
Rosie began her working career as a secretary at Stokely-Van Camp in Rehoboth Beach. After meeting her husband, Frederick Schmitt, and starting her family she began her true vocation as a mom. Being a Navy wife, she quickly learned how to organize large events to small intimate dinners with the officers and men of her husband’s ships at various navy bases.
