Don’t look now.
The Loyola Greyhounds who were ranked No. 13 in the preseason, struggled to a dramatic season-opening win at Richmond on Valentine’s Day, played well in a loss to Virginia, had not won three-straight games all season and lost back-to-back contests to Army and Navy in mid-April those Loyola Greyhounds are peaking at the right time.
Thanks to a 16-9 win over Navy in the Patriot League Quarterfinals Tuesday night at the Ridley Athletic Complex, the Hounds have won three in a row (including last Thursday’s win over then-No. 6 Georgetown) and take on the Black Knights in the conference semifinals on Friday at Lehigh.

Chris Gray had three goals and three assists in UNC s 15-12 win over Duke on Sunday.
For one week, anyway, the ACC will largely exit the college lacrosse stage.
The ACC league schedule concluded Sunday when North Carolina handled Duke 15-12 to claim a share of the regular season title. Eight conference tournaments are on tap this week, with 34 teams participating. (That doesn’t include Ohio State and Penn State, both bounced in Saturday’s Big Ten quarterfinals).
Those automatic bids half of the 16-team NCAA tournament field will be allocated in a span of a little more than 48 hours starting Friday afternoon. But the top of the field seems pretty set.

Sam Shafer made 13 saves Thursday as No. 20 Loyola defeated No. 9 Georgetown 11-9.
No. 20 Loyola defeated a top 10-ranked opponent for the first time this season, using a staunch defensive effort to defeat No. 9 Georgetown 11-9 in the lone NCAA Division I men’s lacrosse game Thursday.
“I just saw our confidence grow,” coach Charley Toomey said afterward on CBS Sports Network. “That’s something that’s got to take us forward. We broke our huddle and said it’s a new season.”
The Greyhounds (7-5) trailed 7-5 midway through the third quarter but scored three goals in one minute, punctuated by a Bailey Savio goal five seconds after winning the faceoff, to take an 8-7 lead into the fourth quarter.
