Gardaí at Kevin Street Station have launched a murder investigation after the discovery of a man s body on Cork Street.
The victim, said to be in his 70s, was found at a residence in Robinson Court this morning.
Garda technical teams are currently examining the scene.
The State Pathologist, Dr. Heidi Okkers, has attended the scene and the body is expected to brought to Dublin City Morgue at a later point to carry out a post-mortem examination.
Locals described the deceased as a quiet man, acquainted with many who live in the area.
