A Thursday Hermosa Beach council meeting labeled a “study session” and as a prelude to the community’s post-pandemic reopening resulted in a tense schooling of the Hermosa Beach City Council by a wave of angry residents and business owners.

Preceding Friday night’s Hermosa Beach Double A Little League game, the visiting Dragons and home team Cypress Park Prowlers lined up along their respective first and third base baselines for an address by league president Jeff Miller. Is it just me or do all the current Hermosa Beach City Council members and all the council candidates for Hany Fangary’s replacement seem exactly the same in their point of view? What’s going on? I prefer to hear different opinions and to have lively discussions on the council. Seems like we are only looking for like-minded puppets for the environmental lawyers on council. All groups need to be represented, and not all residents agree with what has been happening to this city under the strong arm rule of Councilperson Justn Massey. While environmental concerns are important, there are other equally significant issues to address. Hermosa doesn’t have to become a single issue town. The council is starting to seem like the Stepford Wives.
