Ambition won t take you all the way in sport, but you won t get off the ground without it.
At Mid and East Kerry (MEK) Galaxy Football Club, they re not short of ambition, and while they re not at the finish line yet, the desire to get there gives them a better chance than most.
And there s a pragmatism about them as well. Their seniors were relegated last season from Kerry soccer s top tier, but the fact that they were there at all at this young stage in their existence is what matters. They know that the season just gone was as much about learning as anything else and they did plenty of that while still making most games competitive, all in the knowledge that the cameras were on them - literally - thanks to a new four part documentary on their journey which will be screened over the Christmas period.
Dubuque Community Schools leaders have finalized the calendars for the next two academic years.
School board members on Monday night approved the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 calendars. In creating them, district leaders sought to be consistent with the schedules of recent years.
âIt replicates the calendar that weâve had for the past couple of years,â said school board President Tami Ryan after the meeting. âHaving the two-year calendar, I think, really helps in consistency, and people know itâs not going to change from year to year.â
The first day of school will be Aug. 23 for both school years. The last scheduled day of classes will be May 27 for the 2021-2022 school year and May 30 for the 2022-2023 school year. Both calendars include Thanksgiving, winter and spring breaks.
